In memory of their brother, George McIngvale, Jr., Jim “Mattress Mack” and Ralph McIngvale are hosting the First Annual George C. McIngvale, Jr. Memorial Golf & Tennis Classic benefiting St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System and the American Heart Association.
The event, to be held on Friday, May 15, at the Northgate Country Club, will include a shotgun modified golf scramble as well as a doubles tennis tournament and other tennis events. A live auction and cocktail reception will immediately follow the tournaments.
“We want to celebrate our brother’s life while honoring his tradition of giving back to the community,” said Ralph McIngvale. “With his love of sports, especially golf and tennis, it seems only fitting to hold this tournament in his honor.”
Tennis activities include a doubles tournament, which begins on Friday at 3 p.m., with prize money offered. A Ladies Drill and Play Day begins at 9 a.m. and includes fun drills and doubles round robin play followed by lunch and a silent auction. Tennis activities continue through Saturday with a Tennis Pro Am Tournament from 9 a.m. until noon, Exhibition Match from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Tennis Carnival for children from 3 to 5 p.m.
