How can you support our armed forces? Get a Wendy’s Frosty.

Our Central Texas Wendy’s client filmed a segment this week with KCEN (the Waco-Temple-Killeen NBC affiliate). On May 23rd, they are running an all-day phonebank to raise money and awareness of the United Service Organization (USO) at Fort Hood. For those who don’t know, Fort Hood spans much of the middle of the state of Texas. It’s huge. Look on a Google map and look at the gray area in the middle of Texas. That’s it. It’s the home to III Corps (pronounced “three core”) and thousands of troops and their families.

Left to right: Robin Crouse, Director USO Ft. Hood; James Hays, President and CEO of Central Texas Wendy’s; Isabella Hubbard, Ft. Hood USO

As many are coming home from overseas, our client wanted a way to give back and support them. We tailored a Wendy’s Frosty Key Tag promotion for them, and this is the third year of supporting the USO at Ft. Hood. Here’s how it works. Go to Wendy’s and buy a Frosty key tag for $1. The proceeds will go directly to the USO at Ft. Hood; the funds stay here in Texas supporting our troops. What do you get out of it? Well, this year, at participating Texas Wendy’s, just show your key tag at the register and get a free Jr Frosty with any purchase! The USO key tags will be sold at Waco, Temple, Killeen and Copperas Cove Wendy’s from the week of Memorial Day through July 4th. Over the past two years, Central Texas Wendy’s has raised over $15,000 for the USO at Ft. Hood!

P.S. This year, you can buy and redeem a Wendy’s Frosty key tag at any participating Wendy’s in Texas! Some are selling them right now.

P.P.S. Fries and a Frosty are particularly good on the hot summer days.

P.P.P.S. I’ll have a #2 Dave’s Hot N’ Juicy (no ketchup), large fry, large Coke, Frosty Key Tag and a Jr. Frosty!

Wendy’s Winter Warm-Up Gives San Angelo the Gift of Warmth

Wendy’s Restaurants® are teaming up to keep Texans warm with San Angelo’s first Wendy’s Winter Warm-Up, beginning January 18 and continuing through February 14, 2010.

The Wendy’s Winter Warm-Up has helped those in need throughout Texas for the past 18 years and local franchisees are excited to bring the 4 week program to San Angelo. The program helps provide warm coats to those in need as the temperature drops.

The community is encouraged to bring unused jackets, coats and sweaters to their local Wendy’s Restaurants in exchange for a courtesy coupon for $1 off any menu item at Wendy’s and the opportunity to help a neighbor in need. All coats, jackets and sweaters will be collected at participating stores, including 5555 Sherwood Way, in bins provided by the Salvation Army.

Local charity partner, Salvation Army, will then pick up all collections and distribute throughout the community.

What: 2010 Wendy’s Winter Warm-Up
When: Monday, January 18, 2010 – Sunday, February 14, 2010.

HUNT FOR AN EGG-CELLENT CAUSE

Houston Children’s Charity will host its 11th Annual Easter Party at the Northland Christian School, April 4 at 1:00 p.m.

This year’s event, which previously brought over 400 children and families from the Houston area, will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, and other family friendly activities. There will also be games and prizes, as well as an Easter egg hunt with Easter baskets for all children and a special guest appearance from the Easter Bunny.

Food will be generously provided by Wendy’s Restaurants® and delivered by Wendy herself. Coca-Cola America and Borden’s Milk will provide drinks for attendees.

Houston Children’s Charity is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Greater Houston’s underprivileged, abused, and handicapped children who have been otherwise left behind. The scope of our support is limited only by the availability of resources. Our goal, the rainbow that we chase, is to let no legitimate request for assistance go unanswered.

For more information on the event please contact 713-524-2878 or visit www.houstonchildrenscharity.org.
